Lead Software Engineer / Software Architect
Primary Responsibilities
- Design complete software solutions combining multiple systems and services
- Mentor less experienced engineers in software best practice and provide code reviews on changes
- Create web services using Flask and AWS Lambda
- Assist risk and operations team with data modeling and database integrations
- Integrate with government and partner institutions through REST API calls
- Create scripts and services to automate manual tasks (e.g. document generation)
- Create automated unit and integration tests to ensure quality
- Define monitoring parameters to ensure visibility into production performance
Knowledge, Skills and Ability:
- Automated testing with pytest
- Microservices with Flask and asyncio
- Version control with git or equivalent including pull requests and gated check-ins
- Interfacing with databases such as MySQL
- Cloud architecture experience (e.g. AWS)
- Familiarity with microservices and Docker
- JSON REST API integrations
- Front-end web development experience (optional)
- Data analysis experience (optional)
- Strong written, verbal and organizational skills (English)
- Experience working with geographically distributed teams
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or Mathematics
- Master’s degree (optional)
