The role is a synthesis of design and creative entrepreneurship. You will work to deliver the Afiniti Creative Team’s innovative concepts and lead the effort to push the boundaries of how to visually articulate the brand.
You'll need both types of skills to develop the visual language Afiniti demands. You will need to be able to work to a brief as well as able to lead a creative design project from ideation. You’ll partner with Creatives and lead Designers to define and deliver new collateral, graphics, iconogroahy, typography, test new concepts and collaborate on brand positioning. The Afiniti Creative Team takes on a multitude of work, therefore you need to have an in-depth understanding of the Adobe Creative Suite and Sketch. However, we are not looking for simple design technician, you need to also have your finger on the pulse of what is changing the world of design. Afiniti is not a follower, it is a leader, and part of this role will be defining how companies articulate the world of AI in business. The best candidates would share creative with their team on a daily basis, be ingesting at least an hour of content a day and iterating and drawing something new for the team regularly to maintain personal and collective creative potency.
This role involves being a design leader, working closely with the Afiniti Creative Leadership, but your speciality will fee defining original assets and illustration.
- Lead on design projects, working closely with the Creative Leadership, from conception to delivery
- Design original pieces, including illustrations and infographics
- Work closely with the Creative leadership to push the boundaries of what the Afiniti brand is doing in the industry
- Work to a brief as well as the ability to create your own briefs.
- Lead and/or design more traditional corporate collateral assets
- Develop new ways to articulate corporate collateral
- Review all designers’ work to ensure high quality
- Have strong opinions based on design experience, but be open to development and discussion.
- Refine individual assets and build up a library of illustrations, icons, infographics, gifs, fonts etc
- Apply iconography techniques, refining how Afiniti articulates itself graphically.
- Support Creative Leadership and in the execution of the visual direction.
- Increase user friendliness in all products, from traditional UI to illustration assets.
- Maintain brand consistency throughout all projects
- Liaise with other members of the Creative teams to ensure deadlines are met
- Stay up-to-date with industry developments and tools, and maintain your creative eye but extensive daily creative research.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years proven commercial experience as an Illustrator, Senior Designer or similar.
- A unique portfolio that sets you apart from the competition - that proves you are a creative leader not a follower.
- Fluency with the whole Adobe Creative suite and Sketch.
- Expert with Adobe Illustrator.
- Ability to review creative and identify areas which can be improved by illustrated assets.
- Natural creative eye, refined by years of creative research.
- A daily routine of creative research, including galleries, image searching, drawing, scribbling, sharing and reflecting etc.
- Obsessive attention to visual details and design fundamentals.
- Automatic understanding of how to set up design assets to optimise work.
- BSc degree in Design, Visual Arts or relevant field
